Guy has a wealth of experience and knowledge in trailer loading and problem solving, it varies with each horse and situation. AUGUST 2024 POSTS
I was once given a great piece of advice that related to giving horses time off. “If you turn them away when they’re going badly they will come in worse and if you turn them away when they’re going well they will come in better’.
I think the statement holds a lot of truth. In part because horses have phenomenal memories they don’t forget anything. This horse is a gelding I sold some years ago to my friend Mary. As a young horse I used him in a lot of demos and one of things I taught him was to lay down on a cue. I hadn’t asked him to do this for at least 10 years before this day. But he remembered the cue like it was yesterday.

I’ve been lucky enough to ride and own a number of nice horses over the years. Riding my own horses gives me an opportunity to experiment and try and improve my horsemanship. It also allows me to ride them and work with them over a longer period of time so that I’m not just starting and retraining but also developing and refining.
My latest horse is Highlight (racing name Moltisanti). He’s a 4yo ex racehorse by Highland reel x a Dubawi mare.
My goal is to really develop all 3 areas of my program, mental, physical and functional. I’m having a lot of fun with him and really excited where we get too.
Keep an eye out out for him at our clinics and events.
