GRH Horse & Rider Training Days

GRH Horse & Rider Training Week

Four days dedicated to you, your horse and your training.

Bring your horse to Guy Robertson Horsemanship in East Yorkshire and spend four days developing your skills, understanding and confidence together.

The GRH Horse & Rider Training Week is designed for owners who want more than a single lesson or clinic. It gives you time to work with Guy over several days, build on each session and begin putting the GRH training principles into practice with your own horse.

Whether you’re a competitive rider or simply want a more confident and enjoyable partnership with your horse, the training is adapted to where you and your horse are now and what you’d like to achieve.

All disciplines and levels are welcome.

Confidence • Body Control • Purpose

Guy’s training is built around three key principles — Confidence, Body Control and Purpose.

Throughout the week you’ll learn how to recognise when your horse is confident and relaxed, how to break an exercise down when they become unsure and how to develop clearer communication and greater control of their body and energy.

Rather than simply teaching you how to complete a particular exercise, Guy helps you understand why your horse is responding in the way they are and what you can do next.

Purpose is then added to the training through ridden and groundwork exercises, poles, obstacles and the wider environment around the yard.

The aim is to develop skills that remain useful when you leave the arena and return to everyday life with your horse.

Your Week, Your Horse

There is no requirement for every horse and rider to be working on the same thing.

You might want to develop:

Confidence and relaxation
Groundwork and communication
Ridden confidence
Body control and responsiveness
Poles and obstacles
Confidence outside the arena
Young or green horse education
Your ability to manage your horse’s energy and focus
A particular area of your training that you’ve been struggling with

Guy will work with each horse and rider combination individually within the sessions, adapting the training as the week progresses.

This makes the week equally suitable for someone developing a young or green horse, an experienced rider wanting to improve their training skills or an owner who simply wants to understand their horse better.

More Than a Clinic

A one-day clinic can give you plenty to think about. Four days gives you time to put it into practice.

Working over consecutive days allows Guy to see how you and your horse progress, revisit areas when necessary and gradually build on what was established in the previous session.

Most importantly, you’re learning how to train your own horse.

The aim is for you to leave GRH not simply having had four enjoyable days, but with greater confidence, practical skills and a clearer understanding of how to continue your horse’s development at home.
